With a lifelong experience in the crafting of wood products and furniture starting as a small boy on his grandfather's farm in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, owner and founder Christopher Wiener began the journey that led to the founding of Rusticraft.

Chris began his career as a foreman at his father's construction company, WMC, while putting himself through college, where he studied the hospitality industry as well as marketing and sales. After earning those degrees, he began working for Woodcraft Industries, a cabinet door manufacturing company in Saint Cloud, Minnesota as a woodworker on the floor.  Chris quickly became a fast track employee at Woodcraft, and moved from his floor position to a supervisor, then an assistant plant manager, and eventually, he became the plant manager of the Saint Cloud Division.

During this time, Chris continued his education at Saint Cloud State University where he studied supervision and employee management.  He also earned his certification in Kiln Drying, Six Sigma and TPM focused on Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.

After working for a few other manufacturing companies as a plant manager, Chris eventually decided to form his own company.  He started Vienna Woodworks in 2002 while living in Superior Wisconsin. The name Vienna was used to represent where Chris' ancestors originated.  Chris wanted to break into the furniture manufacturing industry, but realize that he would need a niche product in order to compete with the vast number of both large and small companies in the United States, as well as with those importing furniture from overseas.  Because he had seen and loved log furniture, he decided to start the company by focusing on this product as well as offering contemporary furniture and kitchen cabinets in both modern and rustic styles.

While he began Vienna Woodworks, Chris also earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration, focusing on entrepreneurship and small business.

His wife Beth had an old picture from her parent's home in NJ that she showed him one day.  On her first birthday, 32 years prior, her parents had a barbecue for her and there was a photo of family around their picnic table.  The picnic table, made by her father, was constructed from cedar logs.  Beth remembers that table from her youth, as the family used it during many summers throughout her childhood.  Chris was inspired by the photo and had talked for many years about starting a log furniture company. Finally his dream was becoming a reality.

Vienna Woodworks soon became a very busy business. Because so many designers, lodge owners and restaurant owners contacted the company for commercial rustic furniture, Chris decided that in order to better serve the hospitality industry, he would form Rusticraft Furniture Company in 2006 as the commercial side of the rustic furniture business.

Today, Rusticraft and Vienna Woodworks are both divisions of Vienna Industries, LLC.  The sister companies remain focused on providing high quality rustic furniture at an affordable cost. Now located in Waseca, Minnesota, we have a crew of skilled artisans working in our shop who are true professionals in their craft.

Before long, we decided that, since we were now located in Waseca, a farming community, we would begin to offer reclaimed barn wood furniture.  There are many old barns in this area that have had to be taken down as they became unused or started to show signs of falling down.  Taking down a barn and retaining the quality of the wood is no easy feat.  It requires a great deal of work and is a dangerous endeavor.  The value of the wood isn't only in the amount of skilled labor that goes into procuring it.  The wood is a piece of history, and is like no other wood available on today's lumber market.  It will never be available again. The long leaf heart pine in barns in this part of the country was cut from the virgin forest that had been growing for hundreds of years and it is vastly different from new lumber.  The patina is absolutely beautiful. We offer our commercial products in reclaimed barn wood, including flooring and interior doors.  For a truly unique, elegant and warm ambiance barn wood is the obvious choice.

Over the years we have worked with a number of designers, lodge owners, casinos, hotels and resorts as well as restaurants and bars all over the United States to provide unique rustic hospitality furniture.   We plan to add a client list to our site soon, but some of the highlights have been doing work for Banana Republic (for catalog and commercial Shoots), Birch Log Frames for Cabela's, Rustic Bathroom Vanities for HGTV DIY Network "Bath Crashers", Discovery Channel Destination America's "King of Thrones", providing cabinetry and a custom design table for FYI Television Channel's new show "He Shed - She Shed", rustic commercial furniture projects for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe at the Grand Casino Hinkley and their special housing program, and Christmas Mountain Village at the Wisconsin Dells. This summer we designed and built a bar for the Limon Jungle Bar in New York City and made 300 chairs for Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse in Tuscon, Arizona. These are just a few of the projects that we have worked on over the last 12 years.

We have a proven track record of providing outstanding quality and service, and we welcome the opportunity to provide you with a competitive bid for your commercial rustic furniture needs.
